Indonesia Invites M'sian Firms To Share Engineering Expertise
KOTA BAHARU (Kelantan, Malaysia), April 14 (Bernama) -- Indonesia has invited Malaysian companies to share their engineering expertise with the country, especially in the construction of highways and airports.
"This is in line with Indonesian President Joko Widodo's aspiration to make trade cheaper through improvement in infrastructure," Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Herman Prayitno said.
He said this in a media briefing after officiating at the opening of Malindo Business and Cultural Centre (MBCC) branch office here, Wednesday.
Besides sharing engineering expertise, Herman said Indonesia had also offered investment opportunities in various sectors including tourism, farming, mining, marine and food products.
"Last year, investment between both countries reached US$20 billion (about RM77.55 billion), and we are expecting this to increase to US$30 billion this year," he said.
Meanwhile, MBCC president, Abdul Rahman Bakar, said the opening of MBCC branch in east coast state of Kelantan was the fifth in the country within an eight-year time span of the organisation's operations in Malaysia.
"The opening of MBCC in Kelantan, its first office in the East Coast region, is significant as people in the state like to trade," he said.
Abdul Rahman hoped the opening of the centre would expand investment in various sectors between both countries.
