Innovators Urged To Apply For UNCDF Financial Innovation Lab Programme

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is calling for start-ups, fintechs, financial service providers and pre-seed stage teams which have a minimum viable product to apply for its Financial Innovation Lab programme. In a statement Tuesday, UNCDF said the programme -- a collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia (Malaysia’s Central Bank) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation -- looks for solutions and models aimed at disrupting the market and addressing the needs of different customer segments. “We are looking at solutions that could drive usage of financial services beyond access to bank accounts and address use-case/need at the customer level,” it said, adding that the deadline for the applications is Jan 20, 2019. It said the programme will provide, among others, a grant support of up to US$100,000 (US$1=RM4.18), access to market intelligence, global visibility and engagement with Malaysian financial institutions. It added that an informative session to assist interested applicants for the programme will be held on Dec 20 at The Orbit in Bangsar South, from 10 am to 12 pm.
