Iran’s 5-month technical-engineering exports exceed $1b

TEHRAN,Sept.26(MNA) - Iran exported $1.095 billion worth of technical and engineering services during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20. During the same period, $12.6 billion worth of goods (excluding gas condensates) were exported to China, UAE, Iraq, India, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, and South Korea. Iran has exported over $20 billion worth of technical and engineering services over 2001-2011, the head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) has said. Hamid Safdel added that the exports were mainly related to power, industry, road, and petrochemical sectors. Another TPOI official said in December 2011 that a couple of technical and engineering projects have been signed off to be rolled out in the fields of energy, industry and housing in Ghana, Sudan, Oman, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan. Sohrab Salimi added that more than 125 industrial and mining projects, worth some $3.5 billion, are in the hands of Iranian contractors around the world.
