Iran’s alloy steel output up 11.3 percent on last year

TEHRAN,April 4(MNA) - Iran produced 307.3 thousand tons of alloy steel last calendar year, which ended on March 19, showing a 11.3 percent increase on the previous year, according to the managing director of Iran Alloy Steel Company. Hokmollah Babaee said that output stood at 276,000 tons two years ago. Iran exported some $454 million worth of steel products in the first eleven months of the last calendar year. The exports totaled 638,000 tons in weight. Crude steel output is projected to reach 55 million tons by 2025, the deputy industry, mine and trade minister has said. Vajihollah Ja’fari said that crude steel output stood at 12.7 million tons last year and that Iran produced some 16 million tons of steel products last year. Iran will become one of the world’s main steel exporters by March 2016, Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari said in May 2011.
