Iran capable of diversifying energy, goods transportation

Tehran, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys a good capacity of diversifying routes of energy and commodities transit because of its geographical situation, an Iranian envoy said. Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tbilisi Mahmoud Adib made the remarks in a meeting with Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili on Friday. Adib noted that The Islamic Republic of Iran is located in the way of north-south and east-west corridors; so, it can play a key role in diversifying energy and goods transportation. The Iranian diplomat also pointed to the current international demand for energy and Georgia’s position as the connecting point of transit routes to Europe, emphasizing the need for utilizing the opportunity in implementing energy transit projects. The two officials discussed various issues, including economic cooperation between Georgia and Iran. Davitashvili, for his part, referred to agreements with neighboring states regarding energy delivery and swap, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Georgia can develop collaborations in information technology, high-speed internet as well as power swap in the framework of a tripartite agreement. The Georgian minister also congratulated Adib for his appointment as the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tbilisi and wished for his success in his new mission.
