Iran-Pakistan Vow To Enhance Bilateral Trade Co-op

Islamabad, May 30, IRNA – Governor of Iran’s Fars province Hussain Sadeq Abedin and Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday vowed to enhance Pakistan-Iran cooperation in trade sector.
Talking to IRNA, Iranian Consul General in Lahore Muhammad Hussain Bani Asadi, said that both sides during the meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Iran’s Fars province and Pakistan’s Punjab province.
He said that issues pertaining to bilateral trade, exchange of delegations, benefit from each others’ experience and skills in economic and trade sectors came under the discussion.
Muhammad Hussain Bani Asadi said that Hussain Sadeq Abedin during the meeting talked about different opportunities to enhance cooperation and suggested that private sectors of both provinces should be encouraged and more facilities and services should be provided to traders.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on occasion welcomed the visiting Iranian Governor and emphasized on promotion of bilateral trade.
After the meeting Governor Hussain Sadeq Abedin held talks with the delegation of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discussed various issues.
Iranian Consul General further stated that on Wednesday Iran’s Fars province and Pakistan’s Punjab province would sign a Memorandum of Understanding to increase cooperation in the economic sector.
Bani Asadi said that the visit of Fars governor to Pakistan is carried out in the wake of the visit of Iranian President Mehmoud Ahmedinejad to Pakistan.
Earlier a high level economic delegation from Punjab had visited Persia province and invited the Iranian officials.
Governor of Iran’s Persia province Hussain Sadeq Abedin arrived Lahore on Tuesday. He was warmly welcomed by official of Punjab province and Iranian Consul General in Lahore Muhammad Hussain Bani Asadi upon his arrival./end
