Iran Ready To Promote Agricultural Cooperation With Vietnam

Tehran, Jan 9, IRNA – Agriculture Minister Sadeq Khalilian voiced Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation and exchange experiences with Vietnam. In a meeting with the visiting Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, he stressed the supreme position of the Vietnamese nation among all freedom-seeking people and said Tehran attached special importance to its ties with Vietnam. He also expressed his country’s will to expand cooperation with Vietnam in economic, social and political areas. Khalilian further pointed to Iran’s remarkable progress in the past three decades following the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in producing strategic agricultural products and said the two countries could cooperate in such areas as cultivating tea, rice, oil seeds, citruses and farming poultry and fisheries. Cao Duc Phat, for his part, welcomed Iran’s proposal to form an expert working group and invited his counterpart to visit Vietnam. He said exchange of visits could pave the way for further expansion of agricultural cooperation between the two countries./end
