Iran-Syria To Establish Joint Bank

Damascus, Dec 18, IRNA – Tehran and Damascus agreed on Monday to open a joint bank in order to facilitate trade and implementation of joint development projects. The agreement was signed by Iranian Presidential Advisor Hassan Kazemi Qomi and Syrian Secretary General at the Prime Ministry Taisir al-Zoybi in Damascus. The agreement will provide financial services and support for activists and investors to execute their economic projects in both countries. Kazemi Qomi and al-Zoybi agreed to bolster commercial and economic relations by taking immediate steps to export necessary goods to Syria including agricultural products as well as power plant and hospital equipment. They agreed to complete joint development projects and enforce the free trade agreement between the two countries. Iran will provides the Syrian people with necessary goods, particularly medicine and medical equipment while Syria will export olive oil, citrus, clothes, textile products to Iran. Earlier, Kazemi Qomi met with Syrian Prime Minister Wael Nader al-Halqi and discussed with him ways of expanding mutual ties in all fields./end
