Iran-Turkmenistan Mulling Transport, Energy Co-op

Tehran, Jan 26, IRNA – Iran and Turkmenistan studied ways to expand economic cooperation in transit of goods, transport, energy, agriculture and cultural exchanges.
Director General for transit of goods and border terminals Mohammad Javad Atrchian said that the decisions were made in the context of 13th Iran-Turkmen Joint Economic Commission.
He said that they studied the grounds for expansion of mutual cooperation in various fields such as construction of railway and landroads, construction of new bridges, transit of goods, consular cooperation and transport corridor was defined by Iran, Turkmenistan, Oman and Uzbekistan.
They agreed to enhance level of trade, barter trade, border trade, aviation cooperation, as well as transit of goods and launching shipping lines, he said .
Atrchian said that the Iranian foreign minister conferred with Turkmen president on issues of mutual interests on the sidelines of the 13th Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission./end
