Katara Hospitality Launches Qetaifan Enterprises Worth QR 11 Billion

Doha, October 04 (QNA) - Qatar-based Katara Hospitality, the company that owns, manages and develops a range of world-class hotels and resorts, has announced the launch of Qetaifan Enterprises, an estimated QR 11 billion, to develop the northern island of the Qetaifan project. The announcement of the company, which will develop the Qetaifan island, one of Lusail's most prominent sites on the waterfront, which will represent a huge tourist destination, was held at a signing ceremony between Katara Hospitality and Atkins, one of the largest consulting firms in the world in design, engineering and project management, said a press release issued Wednesday by Katara Hospitality. Atkins has been appointed to design the master plan, infrastructure and associated business from the first phase of the northern island of Qetaifan. HE Chairman of the Board of Directors of Katara Hospitality Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani said the launch of Qetaifan Enterprises reflects the company's commitment to investing in the development of the local tourism industry and the promotion of Qatar's domestic hospitality industry, whereas the Katara Hospitality's vision is to change the hospitality world through investment and innovation, which will leave a legacy for future generations in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. Katara Hospitality Chief Executive Officer Hamad Abdulla Al Mulla said that this project reinforces the company's position in the local hospitality sector as a key player in the tourism industry, whereas Qetaifan Enterprises will develop Qetaifan North Island, which will create a safe and sustainable investment in the name of Qatar. Qetaifan Islands are located near the city of Lusail in Qatar. The project includes the northern island of Qetaifan, which will be developed by Qetaifan Enterprises and the Southern Qetaifan Islands, developed by Lusail Real Estate Development Company. All the islands are connected to Lusail through two suspension bridges. Qetaifan Enterprises will develop the first phase of the North Qetaifan Island project, scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2022. The first phase will include a water park, a 400-room four-star hotel and infrastructure. The first phase of the project will span 350,000 square meters of a total area of 1.4 million square meters. The second phase of the project will include a public park, various residential units, shopping malls, a market and residential units for staff. Qetaifan Islands are key elements of Lusail's expansion project; an integrated project includes water park project, modern entertainment, luxury hotels, luxury residential units and world-class facilities.
