Katara to Organize "Fifth String" Oud Festival

Doha, March 06 (QNA) - The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) will organize the Oud Festival entitled (The Fifth String) during the period March 18 to 21, with the participation of 14 musicians and four music groups. The Oud Festival features some of the important Oud players from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iraq, Egypt, Syria and Tunisia in addition to Oud makers and music groups. Qatar's participation in the (Fifth String) comes in different forms, most importantly the presence of Qatar's Oud player Abdulaziz Al Haidoos and the Qatari talent Mohammed Al Sulaiti. Along with the Arab and international musicians, Oud makers will be educating visitors about the making and the development of the instrument. Live shows will be performed through the four-day event, in addition to music seminars conducted by renowned musicians. The Fifth String will offer a great opportunity for Oud lovers in Qatar and the Gulf region to learn about the history and the evolvement of the instrument. (QNA)
