Krabi Airport tasked to handle passengers from Phuket

BANGKOK, Feb 16 (TNA) -- Minister of Transport Arkhom Termpittayapaisith has ordered Krabi airport to accommodate passengers from Phuket airport while it was carrying out repairs on its runways, according to Department of Airports. Department of Airports Director General Daroon Saengchai said after receiving the minister's directive, he has assigned Attaporn Nuang-udom, the director of Krabi Airport to prepare his facilities to handle redirected passengers from Phuket International Airport while it closed for runway repairs between February 26 to 27 from 2-7 am. More than 3,000 passengers could be stranded at Phuket. He said the Transport Minister stressed that all departments under the ministry must give the highest priority to the welfare of both local as well as international passengers and to ensure the minimum of inconvenience as this will directly impact the country's tourism sector. Krabi Airport has already made all the necessary preparations to look after passengers by increasing the staff for immigration and customs procedures. (TNA)
