KRC:Thai exports should grow by 25% in late 2012

BANGKOK, October 25 (TNA) - The Kasikorn Research Center (KRC) has projected that the value of Thai exports should soar by 25 per cent in the last quarter of this year, thanks to a spring from a low export base from the country's flooding crisis late last year and rising orders during the annual festive season for Christmas and New Year celebrations. The Bangkok-based research firm said Thursday that the positive change is also seen to be enough for overall Thai exports to grow by about 5 per cent on average this year. The leading research firm acknowledged Thai exports grew for the first time in four months in September 2012, with their total value standing at 20.7 billion US dollars although it is too early to conclude that, amid impacts from the ongoing European debt crisis, the Thai export recovery has started this year. The leading private think tank, however, predicted that Thai exports should recover in some markets early next year if the world economy started to pick up from the current slump, with active Thai exports from the local automobile, electronic and agricultural sectors to mainly boost the country's export growth next year.
