Low-cost airline Oks proposal to reduce airfare ceiling
BANGKOK, Jan 18 (TNA) – Thai AirAsia X agreed with a proposal for low-cost airlines to cut ceiling prices of airfares while it views that the aviation business will be highly competitive this year following the removal of the red flag, imposed by International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) over safety issues.
The airline does not oppose any proposal if it benefits passengers, said Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai AirAsia X, adding that the company’s airfares normally are lower than the ceiling prices.
Mr Nadda made a comment in response to a proposal to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), asking for low-cost airlines to reduce airfare ceiling prices.
The AirAsia X CEO said after the ICAO removed Thailand from the red flag status, it will more competitive this year. Each airline offers similar prices, frequent flight schedule to facilitate passengers.
Meanwhile, Thai AirAsia X today resumed Bangkok-Sapporo route on Thursday with the opening fare of 3,990 baht for one-way ticket, booked between Jan 18-28.
It also plans to launch a few more routes from Thailand to Japan to serve more passengers for popular trips to Japan. (TNA)
