Low price meals to be served in all gas stations nationwide
BANGKOK, Feb 21 (TNA) -- The Commerce Ministry is set to expand the "Noo Nid" Restaurant, a food joint which sells ready-to-eat meal at a price not higher than 35 baht, while planning to join hands with PTT to starting the cheap meals in all PTT gas stations nationwide.
Permanent Secretary of Commerce Ms Wiboonlak Ruamrak said after the Department of Internal Trade (DIT) and PTT Plc (PTT) had inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the expansion of Noo Nid Restaurants to all gas stations operated by PTT across the nation.
For this year, the Noo Nid Restaurant project would focus on 'quality, cleanliness, low price, and good taste', where participants of the project would learn the technique of how to cook, decorate their restaurants, design their menus, and search for high quality local ingredients.
Furthermore, the project's participants would also receive the ministry support in providing ingredients at low prices, where products from Makro and other modern trade, and local stores have been coordinated in order to ensure that entrepreneurs would able to sell the meals at the designated prices.
Participants would also be provided with equipment and a Noo Nid symbol to signify that this restaurant is part of the ministry's project.
A contest would also be held to select the best Noo Nid Restaurants which have the best taste, cleanliness, quality, and popular among consumers, in a bid to stimulate entrepreneurs to always develop themselves.
The ministry has targeted to increase the number of Noo Nid Restaurants to 15,000 within the year, from the current 11,809, as well to hike the number of Noo Nid Food Truck from 17 to 35 by year's end.
PTT Managing Director for Oil Business Sector Auttapol Rerkpiboon stressed that primarily, around 600 Noo Nid Restaurants would be set up at PTT gas stations to provide the public with more quality meals at low prices, noting that the company has also planned to help increase the number of quality of restaurants in the project by at least 10-20 per cent.
