LPG imports to exceed 54,000 tons per month
BANGKOK, Feb 27 (TNA) -- The Department of Energy Business announced that Thailand this year will need to increase LPG imports over last year's 54,000 tons/month.
Witoon kulchroenwirat, the director-general of the Department of Energy revealed that 75% of production of natural gases in the Gulf of Thailand came from the Erawan and Bongot fields.
The concessions on both will run out in 2022-2023 which will result in a significant drop in supplies which currently stands at 2,100 cubic feet a day.
This means that the output of LPG from PTT's gas separation plants will also drop.
The impact of this will begin to be clearly felt in the next 4-5 years. LPG imports in 2017 already amounted to 100,000 tons/month. Of these, 54,000 tons/month are for local consumption. (TNA)
