Main tendencies of activity of chemical industry

Astana, 5 November 2008, (Khabar) - At an extended government meeting, the
minister for trade and industry Vladimir Shkolnik announced that by 2014,
the annual output of mineral fertilizers in Kazakhstan will reach 3 million
tonnes, production of sulfuric acid and chlorine salts will increase and the
production of pesticides will be established. According to the 9 months
results and compared with the same period last year, Kazakhstan saw growth
in almost all types of manufactured production. The fact that output in the
chemical industry is valued at 81billion tenge which is 11.5% higher than
during the same period in 2007, lead to an increase in chrome's share in
industrial production. In 2006 and 2007, it increased by 0.8% and 0.86%
respectively, and for the 8 months of 2008 it increased by 1%. Moreover, the
minister noted that the country is in need of the establishment of a raw
material base for the chemical industry and to provide all projects with
sufficient amounts of mineral raw materials.

- The potential of the sphere is large and it has powerful base of raw
material, stable macro economic environment and experienced specialists. Two
weeks ago "Kaz phosphate" signed new contract for the delivering of
fertilizers 200 tonnes of phosphate flour to Ukraine for the sum $22
millions. Despite difficult crisis situation, the sphere is functioning.
