Malaysia Continues to Emphasise on Youth Entrepreneurship Skills
PUTRAJAYA, Nov 22 ( Bernama) -- Malaysia will continue to place significant emphasis on developing youths in the nation to showcase their inherent creativity in entrepreneurship skills.
Youth and Sports Ministry secretary-general Lokman Hakim Ali said to achieve this, the ministry seeks to lay the foundation for effective youth development nationwide as outlined in its strategic plan.
He added to-date, the ministry has implemented and carried out number of programmes to support and empower Malaysian youths, with the Islamic Countries Youth Entrepreneurship Network 2017 (ICYEN).
“I am confident that youths in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have the capacity to develop innovative solutions not only for business purposes but for the greater good of our society.
“I understand the OIC is shifting focus towards the Islamic countries in the African continent as possible trade partners,” he said at the closing of ICYEN Pitching at Putrajaya Lake Cruise here Tuesday.
Lokman added this expansion of trade partners will produce quality, efficient and innovative workforce and create job opportunities for youths from Malaysia and OIC countries.
Praising the OIC youths for possessing many characteristics of modern entrepreneurs, he said a successful entrepreneur must be confident and should never give up at the first sign of difficulty or adversity.
The ICYEN workshop and pitching competition, is organised by Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) in collaboration with the Ministry Youth and Sports and Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Conference (ICYF-DC).
The workshop held at the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) saw 14 youth teams from OIC and Malaysia who were shortlisted from 60 projects, shared their ideas on entrepreneurship development future in the South East Asia Region.
