Malaysia To Create More High Impact Jobs On UK Business Growth
KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will offer more high impact jobs as UK-based prime contractors, such as BAE Systems and Airbus, continued to offer global products at a fast pace, said Minister of State for Defence Procurement, Philip Dunne.
He said UK-based companies in Malaysia had established positions on a number of military and civil platforms around the world and their businesses continued to grow.
"BAE System currently employs 350 locals while Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd has 2,700 people, which makes the latter the leading global player in composites and aerospace industry.
"Much of the intellectual capital is being developed here in Malaysia and it can be exported to other countries in the region, including back to the UK," Dunne told Bernama today on the sidelines of the ongoing 15th Defence Services Asia 2016 Exhibition and Conference (DSA 2016) here.
He said the Malaysian education system was well-equipped to produce graduates who could undertake more high impact jobs in the future.
"But it's not just about us. It also about servicing the requirements of Malaysia and regional armed forces," said the minister, who is responsible for the procurement and support of equipment, and science and technology domains within the UK's Ministry of Defence.
