Malaysia Halal Expo Eyes RM50 Mln Sales From Business Matching
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED), through SME Corp Malaysia, expects the business matching sessions to be held during the three-day Malaysia Halal Expo 2019 (MHE 2019) to generate RM50 million in potential sales.
The ministry said the sessions also aimed to provide a world-class market access and networking platform for Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to engage with their international counterparts.
“The expo will be an excellent avenue for SMEs to network and forge business linkages with large companies and multinational corporations from Japan,” it said in a statement Thursday.
MED said the business matching for MHE 2019 would mainly focus on the Japanese marketplace to promote halal products and services for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympic Games.
“The participants will comprise hypermarkets and large companies from various sectors including food processing, food and beverages, pharmaceutical, machinery and engineering, as well as services,” it said.
A total of 21 potential leading buyers, including 15 Japanese anchor companies and six local anchor companies, were expected to participate in the business matching sessions, it added.
Among the Japanese anchor companies are Family Mart, MHC Co Ltd, Yatsumoto Tsusho Co Ltd, Sohgo Kikaku Co Ltd, Asia Trading & Services Co Ltd and Hayabusa International.
The Malaysian anchor companies comprise Tesco Stores Malaysia, Ramly Food Marketing Sdn Bhd, Lulu Group Retails Sdn Bhd, Nestle Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd, Aeon Big Malaysia and Desatera Sdn Bhd.
MHE 2019 is open to all visitors from Jan 24-26, and admission is free.
