Malaysia: J-Biotech In Mission To Attract Taiwan Investors

By Lucia Terey Anak John JOHOR BAHRU (Malaysia), June 28 (Bernama) -- A delegation of senior officials from the Johor Biotechnology and Biodiversity Corporation (J-Biotech) left for Taipei on Wednesday to participate in the Bio Taiwan 2017: Exhibition, Conference and Partnering and entice foreign investments in Bio-Desaru, Kota Tinggi (a district located in southern Malaysia). The delegation is led by J-Biotech Chief Executive Officer Asman Shah Abd Rahman, and the four-day exhibition begins Thursday. The company’s Senior Vice President Investment Facilitation Division Masrah Ahamad, said apart from participating in the exhibition, J-Biotech is also collaborating with a Taiwanese government agency in the research, development and innovation of botanical herbs. An agreement will be signed on July 1 with the Development Centre for Biotech Taiwan on the sidelines of the exhibition. Masrah said J-Biotech’s participation in the event was significant as it had laid the foundation for a good relationship with Taiwan since 2014. “In 2014, we participated in the same event and were successful in attracting investments from several Taiwanese companies for Bio-Desaru and also for the manufacture of fertilisers and microbs. “We hope this time to make more people aware of the facilities provided by J-Biotech,” she told Bernama recently. J-Biotech’s presence at the exhibition will help highlight the existing facilities provided by the Malaysian government and the company in strengthening Johor’s bioeconomy ecosystem, besides attracting foreign investors into the bio-agriculture sector at Bio-Desaru. -- BERNAMA
