Malaysia: KL To Host Conference On Trade Opportunities In Sichuan

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- The Sichuan Provincial Investment Promotion Bureau will organise a conference in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 30 to deepen the economic cooperation and exchanges between Sichuan, one of China's most populous provinces, and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative in Southeast Asia. The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), which is the co-organiser, said in a statement that the China (Sichuan) – Malaysia Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference would serve as an avenue to tap the potential bilateral economic and trade investment, cultural tourism, health care and other fields. The event is also aimed at deepening the understanding of Sichuan and the sharing of opportunities in the fully opened Sichuan market. MCCC said Liu Jie, Vice Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress and Vice Chairman of the China NGO Network for International Exchanges, would lead a delegation to Malaysia to hold this event. According to the statement, Sichuan is China’s largest province in terms of economy, population, resources and science and education. Its total economy ranks sixth in China and first in West China. The chamber added that Sichuan had invested a total of 5 trillion yuan, both at home and abroad, in the past five years. -- BERNAMA
