Malaysia Makes Steady Progress To Become Hub For BDA Solutions Providers - MDEC
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is making steady progress to become a hub for big data analytics (BDA) solutions providers, said Malaysia Digital Economy Corp's (MDEC) Chief Executive Officer Yasmin Mahmood.
She said as at August 2016, there were 22 multinational BDA companies from six countries in Malaysia.
"These included IHS Markit and SiteCore and Malaysian companies, Fusionex and Data Micron, who have expanded globally.
"In total, there are 32 BDA companies that have exported their services/solutions and 47 BDA start-ups continuously innovating and testing cutting-edge technology in this space," she said at BIGIT Technology Malaysia 2016, the anchor event for Big Data Week Asia 2016.
The two-day event, starting Monday, is part of MDEC's efforts to catalyse digital innovation ecosystems in expanding opportunities in the area of BDA.
BDA is the process of examining large data sets to uncover, among others, hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, customer preferences and other useful business information.
MDEC is a government sponsored initiative to create a hi-tech business corridor in Malaysia.
