Malaysia: PIPOC 2017 To Attract Over 8,000 Participants
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB) International Palm Oil Congress and Exhibition (PIPOC) 2017, which will be held here on Nov 14-16, 2017, is expected to attract over 8,000 participants and trade visitors from more than 50 countries.
In a statement Monday, MPOB said, in tandem with its theme ‘Treasuring the Past, Charting the Future’, more than 120 working papers would be presented by renowned speakers and key figures in the sector, including 250 posters related to the oil palm industry.
PIPOC 2017 would also feature a trade exhibition with some 347 exhibition booths showcasing the latest products, technological innovations and services related to the palm oil as well as the global oils and fats industries, it said.
MPOB Director-General, Dr Ahmad Kushairi Din, said five conferences would be conducted concurrently during the three-day event.
“Forum participants will share information and unveil the latest data and developments related to oil palm science, health, nutrition and the economic outlook for the industry,” he said.
“The oil palm industry today has become the main pillar of Malaysia's commodity sector, contributing RM67.6 billion (US$1 = RM4.23) in export value in 2016, equivalent to 6.1 per cent of Malaysia's gross domestic product,” he said.
