Malaysia, SE Asia Target Markets for Jeju Shinhwa World
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) — South Korea’s Landing Jeju Development Co Ltd sees Malaysia and Southeast Asian countries as one of its target markets for Jeju Shinhwa World.
Landing Jeju is the developer and operator of the US$2.5 million (US$1 = RM4.12) Jeju Shinhwa World — the first premium integrated destination resort in Jeju, South Korea, which will be opened next month.
Its Marketing Director, Rhee Tae Rim, said out of the 16 million tourist arrivals recorded in Jeju last year, Malaysians ranked among the top three visitors from Southeast Asian.
“That means Malaysian tourists are very important to us,” she told reporters after the briefing of Jeju Shinhwa World here Wednesday.
Rhee said Malaysia and Southeast Asian countries were the company’s target visitors as it aimed to make the resort the holiday destination of Asia region, not just for South Korea.
Jeju Shinhwa World, spanning across about 2.5 million sq metres, has groundbreaking in February 2015. It is expected to commence in phases from 2017 to 2020.
Aside from Jeju, Rhee said, the company also planned to build the similar integrated resorts in other parts of the world.
She, however, declined to elaborate.
