Malaysian Companies Generate US$13.28 Million Sales At OGET 2016
From Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa
BANGKOK, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysian companies have generated sales worth US$13.28 million (RM55.22 million) at the Oil & Gas Thailand (OGET) 2016 exhibition here from Sept 6 to 8, 2016.
Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Trade Commissioner in Bangkok Niqman Rafaee Mohd Sahar said the sales comprised US$12.51 million (RM51.749 million) in potential sales and US$838,169 (RM3.466 million) in actual sales.
"Some of the Malaysian companies reported good leads with potential businesses, especially from meetings with the clients of PTT Thailand and Chevron. They need to follow up on these positive leads," he told Bernama here, Tuesday.
He said Malaysian companies with expertise in maintaining and enhancing oil and gas production, as well as servicing oil infrastructure such as platform and pipelines would have the advantage.
Besides the sales generated, the 25 representatives from 10 Malaysian companies participating in OGET 2016 also managed to set up 137 meetings and obtained 145 enquiries in various fields within the oil and gas industry, he said.
He said the enquiries were related to various products such as electrical systems and transmission equipment, flexible hose, marine vessel services, offshore well equipment and services and chemical cleaning solutions.
Most of enquiries for Malaysia products came from Thailand, India, Germany, Singapore, Vietnam and Australia, he added.
He said OGET 2016, which was held at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), was a good platform for Malaysian companies seeking for potential buyers and potential business partners.
"Of 3,587 trade visitors, more than 2,000 were projected to have visited the Malaysia Pavilion where Malaysian companies received many good and potential enquiries," he said.
The exhibition was also held concurrently with the Thailand Marine Offshore Expo 2016.
To kick start the exhibition and leverage on the presence in OGET 2016, MATRADE Bangkok organised a special business meeting and networking session for Malaysian exhibitors on Sept 5.
The session pitted Malaysian companies with main players in the market such as PTT Public Company Limited, Chevron Corporation, and the Technical Petroleum Training Institute.
