Malaysian Company To Expand Business To Asean, Middle East Countries
KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) -- Skali, an integrated eGovernment and
eBusiness company, is to expand its business to Asean and Middle East countries
following the partnership with Liferay, the leading open source portal.
Group Chief Executive Officer Tengku Farith Rithauddeen said the group is
currently the region's biggest implementer of Liferay portal, with more than 150
portals already developed using Liferay since both parties signed the
collaboration pact in May last year.
"We hope to penetrate the Asean and the Middle East markets as we are
currently in talks with a few potential companies there," he told reporters
after the Sharing the Values of Liferay and Skali road show on Thursday.
Tengku Farith said the group has planned to establish regional centres and
forge partnerships in Vietnam, Indonesia, India and Middle East countries.
The company recorded its best ever performance by registering an unaudited
operating profit of RM7.2 million (US$2.27 million) for the financial year ended
Dec 31, 2011.
Tengku Farith said he hoped to increase the company's profit by bringing in
new customers to the group's array of services which include web solutions and
data centres.
"We aim to increase the profit margin by another 20 per cent following
introduction of the Liferay Enterprise content management system and the
increase in training programmes offered by the company to corporate and
government sectors," he said.
Tengku Farith said Liferay portal is an ideal enterprise web platform for
business solutions and Skali is honoured to be associated with the product.
"It is without doubt that Liferay has helped improve our deliveries to our
customers and has given us the edge when pitching for new contracts.
"We started using Liferay web platform in 2008 when we were awarded the
Managed Portal Services project to manage 152 government portals and
websites," he said.
He said the group's clients, comprising various industries, have given
positive feedback and have benefited immensely by utilising the Liferay
platform.
Skali has been awarded the Gold Partner Award by Liferay for their
strong collaboration.
