Malaysian Ringgit Ends Marginally Lower Against US Dollar

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian ringgit closed marginally lower against the US dollar on Tuesday ahead of the Bank of Japan (BOJ) and Federal Reserve (Fed) policy meetings this week, a dealer said. He said these affected demand for the local note. At 6 pm, the ringgit was quoted at 4.1370/1410 against the greenback from 4.1330/1390 on Monday. He said BOJ was likely to restructure its stimulus programme and the expectation of the interest rate rise at the coming Fed meeting has waned off. Meanwhile, the ringgit was traded mostly lower against a basket of major currencies. The ringgit fell against the euro to 4.6276/6325 from 4.6157/6228 yesterday and eased against the Singapore dollar to 3.0357/0408 from 3.0303/0351 on Monday. It strengthened against the British pound to 5.3785/3862 from 5.3936/4018 on Monday and declined against the yen to 4.0650/0702 from 4.0575/0646 yesterday. --BERNAMA
