Malaysia's East Coast Terengganu State Targets 6,500 Singaporean Tourists In 2017

SINGAPORE, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Terengganu state targets to attract some 6,500 tourists from Singapore next year through the Beautiful Terengganu 2017 campaign. Terengganu Chief Minister Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said the target was a 20 per cent increase from the figure targeted for this year. "Terengganu is rich with beautiful islands, food and its own handicraft. We are confident these attractions are able to draw tourists from this republic," he said when launching Beautiful Terengganu@Malaysia Feast here, Saturday. Ahmad Razif said the Singaporean tourists could easily reach the east coast state via road and air. He said there would be many more cooperations with tour agencies in Singapore to bring tourists to the state. "Singapore citizens should enjoy and take the opportunity when the Malaysian currency is low currently to travel to Terengganu," he said. Ahmad Razif also said Terengganu would have its newest attraction, namely a bridge similar to the London Bridge. It is now under construction by the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC). Meanwhile, ECERDC Chief Executive Officer, Jebasingam Issace John, said Terengganu also attracted investors from Singapore for investments in tourism, hotel and property sectors. "Terengganu offers attractive investment incentives to investors including from Singapore," added Ahmad Razif. -- BERNAMA
