Malaysia's International Reserves at US$101.5 bln as of Nov 15, 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) – Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM or Central Bank of Malaysia) international reserves amounted to US$101.5 billion (RM429 billion) as at Nov 15, 2017 compared with US$101.5 billion (RM428.9 billion) registered as at Oct 31, 2017 and US$101.4 billion (RM428.7 billion) as at Oct 13, 2017. “The reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.5 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times the short-term external debt,” said the central bank in a statement Wednesday. The main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$95.0 billion), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$0.8 billion), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.2 billion), gold (US$1.5 billion) and other reserve assets (US$3.0 billion). The assets included gold and foreign exchange and other reserves, including SDRs (RM428.982 billion), Malaysian government papers (RM4.001 billion), deposits with financial institutions (RM6.956 billion), loans and advances (RM7.712 billion), land and buildings (RM2.113 billion) and other assets (RM7.464 billion). -- BERNAMA
