Malaysia's Minister Ong To Participate In Commonwealth Trade Ministers' Meeting
KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Second Minister of International Trade and Industry, Ong Ka Chuan, will participate in the Commonwealth Trade Ministers' Meeting in London on March 9-10, 2017.
In a statement Wednesday, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) said among the topics of discussions would be revitalising intra-Commonwealth trade, technology and innovation, creating an export economy, future of Commonwealth trade and proposals for the consideration of the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2018.
MITI said during the visit, Ong was scheduled to meet his counterpart from Canada, François-Philippe Champagne, as well as, have informal meetings with the ministers from Australia, Canada, Brunei, New Zealand and Singapore to assess work programme leading to the 11th World Trade Organisation Ministerial Conference, which Argentina would host in December.
Ong would also meet a group of UK business community to share trade and investment opportunities in Malaysia and showcase Malaysia as a highly favoured destination for foreign investors, it said.
"This will be followed by a meeting with prospective investors and a site visit to one of the projects being undertaken by a Malaysian company at the Royal Mint Gardens," it said.
