Metaltech 2019 To Generate RM500 Mln Sales On Site

KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 (Bernama) -- MetalTech 2019, Malaysia's largest machine tools, metalworking automation technology exhibition, is expected to generate about RM500 million worth of business deals on site. Organised by United Business Media (M) Sdn Bhd (UBM Malaysia), it is being held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here from May 15-18. Group managing director (ASEAN business) M Ghandi said more business deals are expected to be clinched after the event. He said last year's event drew 14,800 trade visitors and generated RM200 million sales. "We are targeting to attract 20,000 trade visitors this year. We are more upbeat this year, seeing from first day response yesterday, which was fantastic with 27 per cent higher trade visitors compared to last year," he told reporters after the launch of Metaltech 2019. Themed "Embrace the New Age In Manufacturing", the exhibition showcases 1,500 international and local companies latest offerings, he said. M Ghandi said this enthusiasm showed Malaysia's real business on the ground remained solid. He said it could also be seen from the interest of international companies that have expressed their intentions to expand their exhibition space next year. "This reflected the strong views of the fundamentals of the Malaysian industry, with (companies having) more confidence in expanding and investing. There is still huge opportunities in Malaysia despite the trade war," he added. -- BERNAMA
