MFA Urges More Malaysian Franchise Entrepreneurs To Go Global

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Sept 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) is committed to assisting local franchise entrepreneurs to acquire the capability and innovation to expand their businesses in overseas markets. Its Secretary-General, Mohamad Shukri, said currently there were 65 local franchise brands operating in 66 countries with a total of 4,271 outlets. “We want to see more local franchises doing business overseas and consequently contribute to the country’s economy,” he told reporters on the Malaysia Franchise Awards 2017 which will be held this Oct 25. He said in line with the association’s support for members to penetrate the international market, the MFA has introduced two new categories of award for this year, namely Best International Franchisor – Asia Pacific, and Best International Franchisor – Africa and West Asia. “The awards would serve as a platform to boost confidence among franchise entrepreneurs to go global. “MFA wants to demonstrate to the local entrepreneurs that the franchise concept is the best business model regardless of the prevailing economic environment, and hence is most suitable for them,” he said. The association has received some 42 nominations from 30 companies vying for the 21 categories of award, Mohamad Shukri said. -- BERNAMA
