Minister: GECF Favors Fair Prices

Moscow, June 30, IRNA – Minister of Oil, Rostam Qassemi, said on Saturday that the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) member states favor fair prices. ˈThe GECF members seek export of the clean energy to the world markets at fair prices,ˈ said Qassemi in a press conference on the sidelines of the 2nd GECF meeting in Moscow. Qassemi said that the current GECF meeting both at ministerial level and the Summit in Moscow seeks to find a suitable mechanism for fair prices. He referred to complexities and problems of gas exports and said further success in the field would be possible in light of further and close cooperation among the exporting countries. He highlighted advantages of gas compared to other fuels in use worldwide such as cleanness and cheep price and said that the reality is that a wide spectrum of people need the energy and due to the same reason, the sectors involved in production and export of the energy need strong support of the exporting countries.ˈ Commenting on the agenda of the GECF ministerial meeting and the Summit, Qassemi said the most important move of the Forum at the ministerial level was to compose final statement for approval by the Summit of leaders. The GECF ministerial meeting opened in Moscow, Russia, on Saturday. Iranˈs Oil Minister Rostam Qassemi was present. Director of the International Affairs Department of National Iranian Oil Company, Mohammad Khatibi, in an interview highlighted topics of the GECF Summit agenda and said that prior to the GECF extraordinary ministerial meeting, several expert meetings were held to draw up the agenda of the Summit./end
