KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Mah Siew Keong, will lead a delegation to Belgium, France and UK from Sept 5-10, 2016 to promote palm oil, rubber and timber to Belgium, France and UK. In a statement Friday, the ministry said, the mission aimed to address the increasing concern on the French food taxation and food safety issues relating to palm oil, as well as timber certification matters in the Netherlands. "It also aims to engage key stakeholders, including members of European Parliament and Commission on the sustainable perspectives in palm oil production," it said. The mission will explore market opportunities for palm oil and other commodity-based products in the countries," it said. The ministry said Mah would officiate and deliver a keynote address at the Seminar on Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil & Palm Oil-related Food Safety Issues in Brussels on Sept 5. "This seminar will focus on measures undertaken by Malaysia to ensure the safety of palm oil. It also aims to disseminate information on measures undertaken by the country to provide certified sustainable palm oil under the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil Certification Scheme," it said. It said Mah and his delegation will also be meeting the ministers, members of parliament, as well as government officials from the three countries. --BERNAMA
