Ministry Economy, Indonesia discuss economic, trade and investment ties

Abu Dhabi: Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy has discussed with Indonesian ambassador Salman Al Farisi ways of strengthening bilateral relations.
They also discussed ways of enhancing ties in the economic, trade and investment domains and strengthening bonds between business community between the two countries.
During the meeting, held at the headquarters of Ministry of Economy in Abu Dhabi, they affirmed the importance of exchanging visits and organising joint events and exhibitions aiming to highlight investment opportunities that the two sides enjoy.
They also discussed acquainting investors and businesspersons with the investment opportunities and importance strategic sectors which represent a pivotal factor in enhancing economic, trade and investment bonds between the two countries.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of establishing joint business council in cooperation with the Commerce and Industry Chambers in both countries.
Al Shehhi said that the UAE and Indonesia enjoy strong relations, particularly in the economic and trade fields, pointing out that the UAE is considered the biggest trade partner to Indonesia, as the volume of trade exchange between them reached US$ 3.2 billion in 2012.
For his part, the Indonesian ambassador said that his country could achieve overwhelming success in all economic aspects.
He added that the UAE investments in Indonesia during the first quarter of 2013 recorded a notable growth and was ranked among the top 20 foreign countries around the world to invest in the country with US$ 12.5 million, compared to US$ 35.35 million last year. – Emirates New Agency, WAM
