Mobile internet usage soared
BANGKOK, April 4 (TNA) -- Thai people’s internet usage via mobile phones increases rapidly while their voice calls plunge.
Takorn Tantasith, Secretary-General of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), said that in 2017 there were 121 million mobile phone numbers. The duration of voice calls provided by three major operators fell from 70,720 million minutes in 2014 to only 43,460 million minutes last year.
Each Thai spent about two minutes per day for voice calls last year, down from about four minutes per day in 2014.
On the contrary, mobile internet usage was soaring. Last year data usage via mobile phones provided by three major operators amounted to 3,294 million gigabytes, growing by more than six folds from 2017.
On average each Thai used 4.11GB per month, showing that Thailand became an online society, Mr Takorn said. (TNA)
