More active Thai tourism during New Year festival

BANGKOK, December 27 (TNA) - The Kasikorn Research Center (KRC) has foreseen more active Thai tourism during the upcoming New Year vacation when the Kingdom should earn over 34 billion baht from tourism-related revenues. KRC said on Wednesday that Thailand's tourism-related revenues should reach about 34.15 billion baht during December 30, 2017-January 2, 2018, a 12.5 per cent year-on-year increase. KRC assessed that most of the country's tourism-related revenues during the four-day festivity period, or about 22.87 billion baht, should earn from foreign tourists, while the rest of about 11.28 billion baht should earn from Thai New Year revellers. According to the leading private think tank, Chinese visitors should contributed the most to Thailand's tourism-related revenues during the four-day New Year holiday. The Bangkok-based research firm projected, meanwhile, that the domestic tourism should grow further to some extent next year from the Thai government's stimulus measure on allowing Thai travellers to each have up to 15,000 baht of their spending in 55 Thai provinces throughout 2018 deducted from their personal income tax.
