More Bumiputera & Indian Businessmen To Join Fair In Guangdong
By Niam Seet Wei
KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 (Bernama -- The Malaysia- China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) aims to bring more than 50 Malaysian buyers, including more Bumiputera and Indian businessmen to participate in the 11th China Processing Trade Products Fair (11th CPTPF) in April.
First vice- president Loo Kok Seong said MCCC brought 26 buyers, last year, to join the annual event and they achieved fruitful results.
“We hope to bring more Bumiputera and Indian entrepreneurs to join the event this year so that they could tap the huge business opportunities in China and transform and internationalise their businesses,” he told Bernama on the sidelines of the 11th CPTPF Malaysia Roadshow 2019 here, Monday.
Loo said MCCC had about 1,800 members but non-Chinese members only accounted for about 10 per cent of the total membership.
Organised by China’s Ministry of Commerce, the State Intellectual Property Office and Guangdong Provincial Peoples’ Government, the annual event would be held at Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Centre from April 18 to 21.
MCCC is the event co-organiser entrusted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce.
Meanwhile, in his speech earlier, Loo said the CPTPF recorded 100 billion yuan (RM1 = 1.64 yuan) of transactions last year.
“The CPTPF has been establishing close cooperation with MCCC in recent years and it has become an ideal platform for small and medium-sized Malaysian enterprises to go abroad and expand their businesses to global markets,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chen Yuehua, deputy director of the Guangdong provincial commercial department, two-way trade between Malaysia and the Guangdong province last year amounted to US$30.03 billion (US$1 =RM 4.07).
