MPOB Seminar To Unveil New Technologies For Palm Oil Industry
KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) is
organising a Transfer of Technology (TOT) seminar at its head office in Bangi on
June 14.
In a statement here on Monday, it said the seminar will unveil new
technologies for the palm oil industry and Malaysian entrepreneurs. MPOB’s
research and development generates new technologies for adoption and
commercialisation each year.
The 18th edition of the seminar will be officiated by Plantation Industries
and Commodities Minister Bernard Dompok.
"The 27 new technologies and 15 technology-related services, which will be
launched at this year's seminar, is primed to boost productivity of the palm oil
industry and generate revenue through various commercialisation ventures," said
MPOB Director General Dr Choo Yuen May.
"The seminar provides a forum for business matching engagements and sharing
of knowledge and experience in adoption and commercialisation of new
technologies involving MPOB’s researchers, industry members and entrepreneurs.
"Apart from the launch of new technologies and services, the seminar also
serves as an important platform for MPOB to launch new products and services,
and announce collaboration in developing and commercialising technologies," she
said.
To date, a total of 500 technologies and 106 types of services were
developed, of which 154 or 30.8 per cent were commercialised.
Among the commercialised products developed by MPOB include oil palm
planting materials, medium density fibre board, palm-based printing ink, red
palm oil, goat’s milk soap, aluminium harvesting pole, and various personal care
products.
The target segment for the seminar includes entrepreneurs, small and medium
enterprises, planters, agriculturists, venture capitalists, engineering
professionals, research and development personnel, chemists, manufacturers and
palm oil industry personnel.
Choo said: "We believe the TOT seminar is one of the most important events
for Malaysian entrepreneurs wishing to commercialise palm-based technologies.
"With years of continued development and improvements, the seminar has
become one of the most influential palm oil technological exhibitions."
The seminar also provides an opportunity for networking with the inventors
and incorporates a technological showcase featuring the new technologies and
services.
