MTC Expects US$9.81 Million Potential Sales From China International Furniture Expo

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) expects potential sales of US$9.81 million (RM40 million) from the China International Furniture Expo this year. The event will be held from Sept 8-11 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong, Shanghai. One of the world's most renowned furniture fairs, it is organised by the China National Furniture Association and Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co. Ltd. In a statement Monday, the MTC said 18 companies, comprising six first-time participants, will exhibit their products including dining, bedroom, occasional and sofa sets at the Malaysia Pavilion. "This year, we have intensified our publicity efforts through MTC's Guangzhou office to attract more visitors to our pavilion. "We look forward to another successful event this time," said MTC Chief Executive Officer, Dr Abdul Rahim Nik. The MTC began organising group participations to enable Malaysian furniture manufacturers to collectively display their products at the Expo since 2015. Last year, Malaysia's export of timber and timber products, including furniture to China, was US$200.38 million (RM816.4 million) or 3.7 per cent of the export pie. --BERNAMA
