National Universities Compete in Quick Startup 2016

Doha, April 10 (QNA) - Sixty students participated in Quick Startup 2016, a competition organized by Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) and sponsored by Qatar National Bank (QNB). Students began the three-day training programme with a concept that they went on to develop into a viable business plan. At the end of the weekend, teams presented their ideas to a judging panel. The winning team members were Aisha Al-Derhim, College of the North Atlantic Qatar (CNA-Q) and Fatima Alansari and Ruqaya Alsada from Qatar University (QU). Ibrahim Rehman, Serene Darweesh, Umair Qazi and Pance Ali from CMU-Q were awarded second place, and third place went CNA-Qs Farnaaz Khan, Khadija Salim, Mohammed Zameel Zubair and Seham Abuhuzeimah. Carnegie Mellon Qatar uses business-focused competitions such as Quick Startup as one of the avenues to promote entrepreneurial skills in Qatar. (QNA)
