Nestle invests 85 mln TL in Turkey

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 24.03.2011 - Nestle will produce cereals at its factory which is being built in Karacabey town of Turkey's northwestern province of Bursa and worth of 85 million Turkish Lira (TL). (one USD equals 1.558 TL)
Nestle Turkey Executive Board Chairman Hans Ulrich Mayer said on Thursday that the factory, which was built with the support of Turkish Prime Ministry Investment Agency, would begin producing cereals in the second half of 2011.
Mayer said that Nestle Turkey's annual turnover had reached one billion USD, adding that it increased its capacity 30 percent in the last three years, and grew nearly 20 percent in 2010. 
He noted that Nestle Turkey entered cereals category in 1998, adding that they grew 10 times since then. Mayer said that Nestle was the leader in this category with 60 percent market share.
Mayer said that Nesquik, Nesfit and Cornflakes would be produced in the new factory in Karacabey, adding that they would export 30 percent of these products.
He added that a total of 62.5 million liters of milk was consumed with cereals annually in Turkey.
Noting that Nestle was one of the biggest producers of the world with nearly four billion TL of an annual turnover, Mayer said that Nestle's cereals were being sold in more than 130 countries.
All stocks of the factory will be met by Turkey which means Nestle will buy 4,350 tons of sugar, 5,350 tons of wheat, 4,000 tons of corn and 1,000 tons of rice annually.
