New sunflower field welcomes int'l visitors to Chiang Mai
CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, December 3 (TNA) - A new tourist attraction has been developed in Thailand's northern resort Chiang Mai Province for the current winter season, a sunflower field in the heart of the city, where sunflowers are blooming along the banks of the majestic Ping River.
Diligent villagers of the Tambon San Pee Seua Municipality in Chiang Mai's Muang District recently wasted no time in growing sunflowers in a deserted area of about 10 rais (2.5 rais = 1 acre) and improved its scenery with a hope that the now-blooming yellowish flowers should draw in international visitors to ride horses and appreciate the beauty of the sunflowers.
Villagers also make sure that enough chairs are provided for international visitors to sit and take pictures of the blooming sunflowers in the heart of Chiang Mai.
For those wishing to admire the beauty of sunflowers, they just travel along the eastern part of the Ping River for about two kilometres before reaching the previously-unseen field.
International visitors are welcome to the sunflower field, which will be officially opened on the National Father’s Day, December 5, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 88th birthday, without any charge, including the horse riding service.(TNA)
