Nicolas Sarkozy visits Louvre Abu Dhabi construction site

ABU DHABI, 14th January, 2016 (WAM) -- Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, has welcomed Nicolas Sarkozy, former President of the French Republic, in the presence of Ali Majed Al Mansoori, the Chairman of Tourism Development and Investment Company, for a visit to the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s construction site this morning. The former president, who has close ties to the project since initiating its intergovernmental agreement in 2007, toured the site which is in its final stages.
Sarkozy’s visit follows a trip to the emirate one year ago, and includes a variety of engagements such as a talk organised by The Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research.
Construction of Louvre Abu Dhabi is nearing completion and will soon enter a rigorous preparation phase prior to art work installation and ahead of the official opening.
When open, the museum’s permanent collection will be exhibited across 12 state-of-the-art galleries in dialogue with loaned art works from 13 leading French institutions to tell a universal story of human history. Galleries are designed like an Arabic ‘madinat’, or city, and visitors will also be able to enjoy outstanding temporary exhibitions in a dedicated space, a children’s museum, auditorium, cafe, restaurant, museum shop, research centre, promenades and gardens. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395290242042.html
