Nikon Reveals Its New Mirrorless Cameras

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- Nikon (M) Sdn Bhd Wednesday launched its full-frame, Nikon FX-format mirrorless cameras, Nikon Z7 and Nikon Z6, as well as its NIKKOR Z lenses, featuring a new, larger-diameter mount. The company’s managing director, David Ng said the two cameras, equipped with the newly designed and innovative Z mount system that inherited Nikon image quality and reliability, allowed the cameras to be taken into harsh environments. “The Z series has also carefully considered ergonomics, enabling the cameras to fit in with the photographers’ lifestyle seamlessly. “The camera’s image quality has been developed based on many years of feedback from professionals and all these are translated into a better and more confident experience for both professional and amateur photographers,” he said during the product showcase for the media, here, Wednesday. Ng said these mirrorless cameras would be part of Nikon’s business strategy along with the D-SLRs and that these two systems would continue to coexist as both were equally popular among consumers. “Indeed, our D-SLR system has achieved perfection while delivering superb optical performance with a wide variety of lenses. Meanwhile, our mirrorless camera system takes on a new dimension in optical performance while supporting future advances in image-making,” he added. With both the D-SLR and mirrorless systems, Ng believes that customers can rest assured that Nikon will continue to develop new technologies to inspire the imaging culture. The Nikon Z7 and Nikon Z6 are expected to hit the market by the end of this month and are priced from RM14,688 (body only) and from RM17,858 (with lens). Nikon aims to sell 800 units of each camera a year. -- BERNAMA
