Para rubber growers demand govt to solve falling rubber prices

BANGKOK, Nov 13 (TNA) - Representatives of para rubber growers submitted demand to Agriculture Minister to suspend the director-general of the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAT), accusing him of mismanagement in relation to falling rubber prices. Agriculture Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya received a petition from secretary-general of Para Rubber Growers Network of Thailand, Khesak Sudsawad. They accused Titus Suksaard, the director-general of RAT, a government agency for his management as he failed to push up falling prices of para rubber. They also asked the ministry to increase domestic use of para rubber and consider changing regulations on disaster compensation to cover para rubber farmers, who do not have land title ownership. In response to this, the minister said his ministry is working to solve this problem. Due to an earlier report that para rubber growers would rally at the ministry today, police have been deployed to provide security there. (TNA)
