Philippines delegation visits LMRA’s expat protection centre

Manama, Dec. 20 (BNA): Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) received a delegation from the Republic of the Philippines to learn about Bahrain’s pioneering experience in providing the preventative and protection services to workers, and efforts to combat trafficking in persons. The LMRA officials presented new development of the labor market and the executive steps to maintain a stable and balanced work environment that preserve the rights of labor parties, and the efforts in raising awareness and providing guidance to workers. The delegation was briefed on the on the most recent and key initiative and projects launched including the new "Labor Registration Program" launched recently in partnership with private sector. ‏The delegation was informed about the objectives and key role of the Expat Protection Centre, as the first comprehensive and specialized facility of its kind in the Middle East region. The centre provides counseling, legal services, shelter for victims and potential victims of crimes of trafficking in persons or any form of exploitation, and the preservation of labor rights in accordance with the best international standards and practices.
