PM affirms EEC will increase national, public income

BANGKOK, Nov 22 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha emphasised that the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project will generate more income for the nation and people. After chairing a meeting on EEC, Gen Prayut said the government was developing infrastructures and inviting local and foreign investors to the EEC. The project would benefit not only its sites in Chachoengsao, Chon Buri and Rayong provinces but also people nationwide as it was a pioneer project for implementation in other regions in the future. The EEC targeted the development of 10 industries and he recently decided to add the defense industry to it, the prime minister said. He rejected the criticism that the government was favoring only the private sector in the EEC project. He promised to take good care of local residents in the project’s sites in exchange for their cooperation. (TNA)
