PM to announce year-end sale as New Year gift for people

BANGKOK, Dec 12 (TNA) -- In an attempt to bolster national economy during the upcoming New Year celebrations, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha will announce next Monday the New Year’s mega-sale campaign at the Government House under the logo ‘Return Happiness During New Year Festivals’, said Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn. Gen Prayut will also launch a market community called a ‘Market Must Visit’ during Monday’s press conference, said Ms Apiradi. Under a cooperation between the Commerce Ministry and operators of shopping malls and convenience stores, the mega-sale will kick off for the third consecutive year between December 17 – 27 at every store nationwide. More than 13,800 shopping outlets will participate in the campaign, offering between 20 - 80 per cent discount to the shoppers, Ms Apiradi said. It is projected that about 50 billion baht would change hands during the campaign and could save buyers’ money as much as 15 billion baht. (TNA)
